A website for your business. Built by us. Free.
If you run a small business in Metro Vancouver without a modern, effective website, we’ll design and build you one — up to five pages, fast and mobile-friendly, with help writing the copy, a clean visual design, and a contact form. You own it outright.
What is included in your free website?
A focused, professional website with everything a small business needs to be found and trusted online.
Up to five pages, tailored to your business — commonly home, services, about, and contact. Very simple extra pages may be possible when they reuse the same structure.
A fast, mobile-friendly site built for real people on real phones — no bloated templates.
Copy help: you provide the accurate facts, we organize, edit, and write concise page copy, headings, calls to action, page titles, and descriptions — and you approve it.
Clean visual design: colors, typography, and a simple, polished wordmark or visual direction when your business needs one.
Photo help: we select, crop, and optimize the photos you already have, advise on what to shoot, and use properly licensed stock only when it fits.
A contact form so customers can reach you directly from the site.
Search foundations: accurate page titles, descriptions, and business information, plus a clean technical setup that helps search engines understand your site.
Full ownership — the site, code, content, and design are yours to keep.
Who qualifies for the program?
This is aimed at real, operating local businesses that need a solid web presence. You’re a good fit if:
You run a business that is open and serving real customers today.
You operate in Metro Vancouver.
You do not yet have a modern, effective website.
You can provide accurate information and give timely feedback while we build.
What you need fits the focused website package described on this page.
If your business isn’t a fit right now, we’ll tell you clearly why instead of leaving you waiting — and you’re welcome to apply again if your circumstances change.
Why FDZ Labs offers free websites
FDZ Labs is part of Metro Vancouver’s business community, and this is one practical way we give back. A missing or outdated website holds a lot of capable local businesses back, so we put our skills and time toward fixing that — helping a local entrepreneur build a stronger online start and get back to what they do best: serving customers and growing.
We’re honest about the mutual benefit, too. Building these sites grows our portfolio, earns us word of mouth, and starts real working relationships — and some businesses later choose to hire us for more advanced, paid work. That part is always optional. There’s no obligation, and the free website stays free.
How the application process works
Apply by email
Send us a short email about your business. Either of the Apply by email buttons on this page opens a prepared message with everything we need already listed — just fill in your answers.
We review and queue
We read eligible applications in the order they arrive and usually start one new project every 7–10 days. If we need more details, reply within two days to keep your spot.
A short discovery call
Once your project comes up, we have a 20-minute chat — what you do, who your customers are, and what the site should say. No prep needed.
We design and build it
We write the copy, shape the visuals, and build a fast, mobile-friendly site with your services, hours, location, and contact form done right.
You review, we refine
One round of changes until it feels like yours. Most sites go live within two weeks of starting.
It goes live. You keep it.
The finished site and everything in it belongs to you. If we part ways tomorrow, you lose nothing.
What the free website does not include
Your free site is a focused, informational business website. To keep it fast to build and genuinely free, a few things sit outside the program:
Online stores, payments, or e-commerce
Booking or appointment systems
Customer accounts, memberships, or login areas
Custom apps, databases, or backends
Complex third-party integrations
Multilingual or multiple-language websites
Professional or on-site photography
Full branding or extensive logo design
Ongoing content creation or long-form articles
Need something on this list further down the road? That’s exactly the kind of work we do — just ask, and we’ll quote it separately.
Questions about the Free Website Program
What does it actually cost?
+
The design and build: nothing. You pay for your own domain name (about $15–20/year, registered in your name). Hosting for a site like this is typically free on modern platforms — we set it up on one.
Why do you do this for free?
+
FDZ Labs is part of Metro Vancouver's business community, and this is one practical way we give back — contributing our skills and time so a local entrepreneur isn't held back by a missing or outdated website, and can build a stronger online start and get back to focusing on customers and growth. We're honest about the mutual benefit too: it grows our portfolio, earns word of mouth, and builds relationships, and some businesses later choose us for paid advanced work. That's our actual business, and we'd love to be the first call — but there's no obligation, ever.
How many pages do I get?
+
Most sites include up to five pages, tailored to your business. Very simple additional pages may be included when they reuse the same structure — but that is a case-by-case call, not something to count on. If you need a large or complex site, this program probably is not the right fit.
Do I have to write the copy myself?
+
No. You provide the accurate facts about your business, and we organize, edit, and write the page copy, headings, calls to action, page titles, and descriptions — then you approve it. Long-form articles, legal copy, translation, regulated claims, and ongoing content are outside the program.
What about a logo and photos?
+
We handle a clean visual direction — colors, typography, and a simple, polished wordmark when your business needs one. For photos, we select, crop, and optimize what you already have, advise on what to shoot, and use properly licensed stock when it fits. We do not run a professional photo shoot, and full branding or extensive logo design is not included.
How does the queue work, and what if you are at capacity?
+
We review eligible applications in the order received and usually start one new project every 7–10 days. If we ask you for missing information, reply within two calendar days to keep your position — otherwise the spot goes to the next applicant and you are welcome to apply again. When the queue is full, applications may close temporarily.
What if my business is not eligible?
+
We'll tell you clearly why it isn't a fit right now rather than leaving you waiting in the queue. If your circumstances change, you're welcome to apply again.
Do I own the website?
+
Yes — completely. The code, content, and design are yours. You can edit it yourself, hand it to anyone you like, or keep working with us. It is your website, not a rental.
What do you ask for in return?
+
No payment, and no obligation to hire us later. With your permission we may feature the work in our portfolio, delivered sites include a small, removable ‘Website by FDZ Labs’ footer credit by default, and after launch we may invite you to leave an honest Google review. That review is entirely optional, can be positive or critical, and has no effect on your ownership, your support, or any future work.
Will FDZ Labs put its name on my website?
+
By default, sites we deliver include a small, unobtrusive ‘Website by FDZ Labs’ credit in the footer. Because you own the site, you can ask us to remove it at any time — at launch or later — and we will. It is never a condition of the free website.
Can I make changes later?
+
Small tweaks in the first month are on us. After that, you can edit it yourself, have anyone you like work on it, or hire us — whatever suits you.
What if applications are closed when I check?
+
That just means the current queue is full. It is temporary — check back later, and when we reopen we work through new applications in the order they arrive.
What to include in your application
There’s no proposal to write and nothing to format. Every Apply by email button on this page opens a new message with the template below already filled in — you just answer the questions. Here’s exactly what it asks, so you can review it before opening your email app.
Subject: Free Website Program — application Hi FDZ Labs, I would like to apply for a free website. Business name: City: What does the business do? Who are your customers? Current website, Google Business Profile, or social links: What should the new website help you accomplish? Which pages or information do you think you need? Do you already have a logo and photos? One or two websites you like, if any: Thanks!
Please don’t send passwords, financial information, or other sensitive data in this first email, and hold off on large attachments — we’ll ask for anything specific once your project comes up.
No email app set up? You can copy the template above, or write to [email protected].
Tell us about your business.
One email is all it takes. The button opens a message with everything we need already listed. We’ll reply within a couple of days — and if we’re at capacity, we’ll tell you when a spot opens up.
